The Chatlands Council is a group of Chatlands Site Owners and their selected Alpha administrators that come together to discuss global site-wide events and situations that affect all of Chatlands.
The Council was created to keep Site Owners informed, up to date, and involved in issues or changes that occur within Chatlands.
In turn, Site Owners and select Alphas will be able to represent and communicate their individual communities' interests when participating in CL-wide affairs.
The CL Council Members discuss all global bans and issues that arise to determine the appropriate actions that are to be taken.
All Site Owners that meet the CL Council Member requirements are eligible for a Council position.
Site owners are able to invite experienced Alpha administrators to represent their chatsite as well so long as they meet the requirements.
The Chatlands Council requirements and expectations are as follows:
All Site Owners are required to have held their site ownership status for a minimum of one consecutive year to be eligible to apply for a Council position.
Alphas must have a minimum of one year combined experience as an Alpha on any site and must currently hold an Alpha rank on their Site Owner's chatsite.
All Applicants and standing Council members may not have any serious previous offenses on their record.
Severe offenses include instances of Guardian-level harassment, propositioning, and threats. Applicants and standing Council members may not be on any probationary periods. Owners or Applicants that have previous permanent bans or held a Restricted status must allow one year after successfully appealing before applying for a Council position.
Site Owners may apply for a Council position by filling out the application linked in the Admin/Council discord server.
Alphas must be invited by their Site Owner in order to apply for Council membership.
When inviting Alphas, Site Owners acknowledge that they are vouching for their administrators and as such will be held responsible for them.
Applicants will be reviewed by standing Council members and will be notified of the Acceptance or Denial of their application.
Council members are expected to maintain a minimum of three days of regular activity per week on chat as well as be responsive in the Chatlands Council Discord channel unless an upcoming absence has been previously noted.
If you need time away, Hiatus is an option. Members will not need to re-apply when returning from an announced Hiatus.
Activity Checks will be conducted at random by the Guardians either within the Discord server or the forum.
Meetings will be held on Discord and set ahead of time to ensure availability.
Additionally, Archived Meetings are available for members who are unable to attend so that all members are kept in the loop. Meetings will be held to discuss Code of Conduct Amendments, current Chatlands issues, community proposals, results of investigations of misconduct, etc.
An agenda will be listed for each meeting to ensure all topics are covered and kept on track.
As representatives of their individual communities as well as the Chatlands community as a whole, it is imperative that Council members are able to clearly communicate with one another as well as the community itself in a civil manner.
Council Members are expected to behave in a professional and civil manner. Bashing and otherwise harassing the CL Community and/or Admins will not be tolerated. During meetings and such, members are expected to stay on topic and level-headed, avoiding reacting emotionally to situations.
